It’s been a good month

It’s been a good month in Paris so far. There have been a few frustrations here and there but generally, my move to a foreign country has been a positive experience. Slowly, my doubts about making a career change are fading, and I feel a reassurance in my decisions. I know I owe it to everyone who has supported me to work harder than ever in realizing my dreams. Of course, I will (already do) miss my friends, old coworkers, and family but I’ll try and keep you in tune to my life as much as possible here on my blog.

Here are some of my favourite touristy pictures so far that don’t involve food (that’s why there aren’t many). I know I’ll be here for another 11 months but I can already anticipate the sadness of having to leave such a beautiful city.

Beautiful architecture, not that I know anything about it. I haven't actually gone inside the Louvre yet. I don't like crowds, and I don't know much about art or history so it's not very high up on my list of places to visit. But, I will definitely go on a Sunday when it's free (every first Sunday of the month). Oh, I did enjoy a picnic on the Jardin des Tuileries.

Love locks on the Pont des Arts bridge across the Seine river. No, I'm not Sebastien or Dany, just thought this was one of the nicest locks on the bridge. Unfortunately, the government wants to remove them because they are an eyesore. Really?

An evening view of Arc de Triomphe on Champs-Élysées. I know, there must be a ton of these pictures on the internet. But it was so fun to stand in the middle of traffic and be amongst silly tourists.

View from my bedroom. Yes, that's the Eiffel Tower. It looks like a perfect view, but what's missing is the highway at the bottom from which I can hear traffic all the time. But, I've gotten used to it and I barely notice it now. Although I live a bit far from school, in the 17th, it's a nice and quiet residential area that's got everything I need (grocery, pharmacy, fresh food markets, bakery) within a few blocks. It's also nice to return to a quiet neighborhood after being in the busy city all day.
